Health and Dentistry
"No man is an island."
This familiar quote rings true today, now more than ever. Health and Dentistry are united, just as our world is united. Sophisticated communications, the internet, and high-speed transportation help to bring our world together. A significant event cannot occur in one place on our planet without it impacting several other locations, whether politically, culturally, climatically, agriculturally, ecologically, or a combination of these.
In the human body, no organ or biological system is an island, either. These systems are united by our blood and lymphatic circulatory systems, the sympathetic nervous system, digestive and waste elimination systems, the cardio-vascular system--all of these work together to keep the body functioning and healthy. Because these systems function as vast networks, relying on the body's natural immune defenses to keep them viable and healthy, nothing can be done to one of them without it directly or indirectly affecting all the others. Anything that is done to weaken the immune system will affect them all, as well.
Health and Dentistry acknowledges these vast connections, and
understands that any treatment, surgery or therapy that is performed dentally will have a direct affect on the health of the rest of the body. Medical science is finally beginning to understand and recognize these connections, but Dr. Richard T. Hansen, through research conducted through his Advanced Health Research Institute, has been aware of this for many years, and has put what he has learned into his own practice. Dr. Hansen has also developed a new philosophy for dental treatment, called Functional Dentistry, which is based on the concepts, philosophies and practices of Functional Medicine.
This website will endeavor to show what Dr. Hansen has learned about Health and Dentistry and share these findings with you.
